Other Radio Equipment

Elpers

EPCSAR owns several ELPER radio receivers used for finding ELT (emergency location transmitters) beacons typically activated by downed aircraft. Training is normally provided during regular training sessions.

Aircraft Radio

EPCSAR owns several aircraft radios used to coordinate air assets, land helicopters, and for ELT searches. Specialized training is provided with these radios. Transmitting on the aircraft radio should be limited to those experienced in aircraft radios.

Amateur Radios

EPCSAR has a number of dual band mobile amateur radios installed in our vehicles. To transmit on an amateur radio you must either have the appropriate amateur radio license, be working under the supervision of an appropriately licensed amateur radio operator (control operator), or during an actual emergency and other commercial communication methods have failed.
